It should come as no surprise that Dan and I did a full-day Marvel Movie Marathon with some friends in preparation of seeing The Avengers. The schedule:

From 11am - 11:30pm (taking breaks between films):

All-american Breakfast and Captain America.

Whiskey on the rocks and Iron Man. (We had lunch in there somewhere)

Gamma slammas and The Hulk

Black Widows, Pizza and Iron Man 2 (We remembered it being a bad film… but somehow it was worse than we had remembered! The Black Widows and pizza helped.)

(Jane) Foster’s Beer, Hostess Fruit Pies and Thor!

Lesson Learned: EVERYONE SHOULD DO THIS! It was awesome.

Panda Cake! Masayo-chan brought me so many presents from Japan! (She’s the best!) This microwaveable panda cake was one of them, I couldn’t wait to make it!!!

I must say, out of all the Kracie packages I’ve done… this one actually looked good! It was probably the Jameson I was drinking that helped. SCIENCE!

Lesson Learned: This tasted like nothing. Microwaveable nothing.

I rarely reblog… in fact, this is the first reblog I have ever done! But, these guys are awesome… and so is that megaman cap.

protofans:

Oh my stars and garters, it’s the first Protofans giveaway!
Would you look at this insane pile of nerd loot that we are giving away! We bet you want it. We bet you want to know how it can be yours. It’s super simple! You need to have a Tumblr account (they’re free to create if you don’t have one). Then just reblog this entire post, and either make sure your ask box is open, or include your email address in your post (so we can contact you if you win). On April 4th, we’ll choose a winner randomly. You either need to be a resident of North America, or be willing to pay for your own shipping if you live elsewhere. Unless you’re going to PAX East, in which case we’ll give it to you in person! Here’s what’s in the bag.
A bunch of Protomen stuff, of course:
A splinter-riffic drumstick destroyed by the Reanimator on stage
A nearly-new Act II shirt, worn only by KILROY (size XL)
An unused Light Up The Night lighter
Two Protomen stickers and a lovely embroidered patch
Plus other awesome nerdy delights:
This handmade knitted Mega Man helmet
An awesome iPhone case that looks like a Gameboy Color
A handmade pouch in the form of a nerdy robot
A pair of totally rad skull socks from Diesel Sweeties
Your very own LOLMagnetz from ThinkGeek
A Magic d20 of Destiny
Stickers from Diesel Sweeties, Epic Win Burlesque, Nerdapalooza, TCIMH, and lulinternet
And that’s not all:
A bottle of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey whiskey, unless you are underage in which case we’ll drink it for you
Your very own black fedora, for when you’re feeling a bit Turbo Lover
A pair of these fancy fingerless motorcycle gloves
This incredibly useful mini emergency kit
A box of Girl Scout cookies (because everyone loves Girl Scout cookies)
Fancy chocolate from Nashville
Some candy (because candy)
So why are we giving away all this awesome stuff? You may remember the story of ShutUpAndJamza, either from our post about him or from his incredible thread on Reddit. We recently learned that he wanted to go to PAX East, but couldn’t afford it, and we basically decided screw that. The three of us who run Protofans pooled some money and pulled some strings, and got him a badge, a place to sleep, and some travel money. We felt weird asking for help from you guys, but if you’d like to chip in, you are free to do so. (Any extra money above what is spent on the PAX trip will go directly to ShutUpAndJamza to help with medical bills, etc.) You are not required to donate to win the prize pack, we just wanted to bring some more attention to this dude’s amazing story, and we hope that if you see him at PAX, you’ll give him the highest of fives.

My friend Paul randomly gifts me comic books (one of the two billion reasons he’s awesome.) Once he gifted me the first SEVEN volumes of Usagi Yojimbo. As you can see by this bento, I became obsessed.

Lesson Learned: Look! I found a new backdrop for my bentos! Bllluuuueeee.

Quick, easy (lazy) Superman cape bento. Dan, due to years of experience as an adorable nerd, drew the superman logo on the cheese with my black food coloring pen.
Lesson Learned: Mashed turnips hold color best!

AMERICA! AMERICA! GOD SHED HIS GRACE ON THEEEEEEEEEE!

Happy Presidents Day!

Now, I will leave you with an awesome quote from our 16th President. A lovely slam to Senator Douglas who, prior to this quote, basically said he didn’t care one way or the other about slavery, just as long as a decision was made. Mr. Lincoln, of course, was offended by this:

“They remind us that he is a great man, and that the largest of us are very small ones. Let this be granted. But ‘a living dog is better than a dead lion.’ Judge Douglas, if not a dead lion, for this work, is at least a caged and toothless one.’

OOOOooohohohh! In your FACE, Douglas! Embarrassing!!

Lesson Learned: I’m now addicted to making chocolate molds! Now I can stick a top hat on ANYTHING!! WHEEE! Thanks to Alan for the idea of adding a little jam to Honest Abe’s forehead.

This is not food. Don’t try to eat it.
This is a hand-made valentine I received from my best friend Carey. Proof that she is pure awesome and talented.
Check out her fun-tastic pinterest HERE!
Lesson Learned: Carey LOOOOOVES me. *giggle*
P.S. That is Carey’s lovely hand pictured.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

This year I decided to go with the Japanese tradition of the girl giving the boy chocolate. This, of course, escalated into me making little chocolate Cartoon Dan faces to give to him. (Last year I made him a Ghostbusters Bento.)

I got this particular idea from this video.

I followed the steps:

1) Face out of sculpy.

2) Wrap Amazing mold putty around baked sculpy to create mold.

3) Layer chocolate (candy melts) in molds, as if you were painting a cell.

Bam! Hilarious/ADORABLEOMG chocolates placed in a heart tin. I even made all the other little chocolates inside using this kit! Yay for love.

Lesson Learned: Dan’s hair tastes like butterscotch.

P.S. Dan raised the bar and got me this incredible bag!

Everything is cute in chibi form, EVEN PIES! 3 Strawberry Rhubarb (pre-made filling) and one raspberry/pear (home-made!)
I got the pac man pie idea from the AMAZING site www.snackordie.com. It’s the site that caused me to get more creative with my food.
Lesson Learned: Even it out. The top layer of pie crust was thicker than the bottom layer I used, therefore the texture was inconsistent. Oh well. Still tasted GREAT!
